Castleton embodies the rich history and its natural lakeside surroundings on the banks of Cobbetts Pond. Since the late 1900’s locals and others from urban areas have visited, seeking to escape the heat of the cities. Dance halls were popular at the turn of the 20th century for people to gather together and listen to music.
We’ve kept with this tradition, creating an intimate space where celebration among family, friends, and coworkers is a top priority.
In 1972, George Armstrong purchased and combined Armstrong and Duncan beaches into what was, at that time, the only privately owned public bathing beach in the state of New Hampshire.
The Armstrong portion of the property has been held by various family members for seven generations, and from 1987-88 Castleton was constructed. We proudly opened our doors September 14, 1988.
Since opening we have hosted wedding celebrations, baby and bridal showers, birthday parties for all ages, Silver and Golden anniversaries, trade shows, seminars, Proms and many holiday parties.
The Castle and Ashby Halls can be configured many ways to accomodate an intimate event from 35 up to 800 guests. Rounds, high-tops and cocktail tables can be mixed and matched to meet your needs.
Enjoy cocktails in our large, beautifully decorated lobbies complete with a baby grand piano, Disklavier, and an indoor waterfall.
Castleton's beautiful grounds include a waterfall, pergola, several outdoor fireplaces, footbridge, and fountain surrounded by Cobbetts Pond's serenity, offering the perfect backdrop for your special event.
